⛪ Church Expansion Allows Greater Community Outreach
New Song Church is seeking approval to add a sanctuary and multipurpose facility to our property. The current building was never meant to be our permanent worship space. As our congregation grows, we are excited to move into a beautiful sanctuary providing a place to worship, grow, serve, and connect with the community. Building our dream home has been something we have been working towards since our small doors opened in 2006.
The project will be in 3 Phases. In Phase 1, the church will be built on the North-West portion of the property (see below map-lines not to scale-for visual purposes only). Once the church and parking lot renovation are completed, the current building will be internally renovated for the extra grades thru 5th to be added to the existing school, allowing children to finish elementary school at New Song Academy. This will be considered Phase 2. Phase 3 will be the multi-purpose building adjacent to the Church.
🍎Proposed School Expansion Allows Choice and Quality Education
New Song Church is seeking approval to increase student enrollment by 59 students (total of 176 students) expanding to grades 3–5, allowing current grades PreK-2 to finish their elementary education at New Song Academy.
Projected Enrollment Upon Full Project Completion
🚸Proposed School Schedule and Traffic Mitigation Measures (Mon–Fri)
Working with the City of Henderson traffic, New Song Christian Academy will implement staggered start and end times to alleviate traffic congestion based on the recent traffic study with a suggested window of 45 minutes in coordination with the nearby Del Webb Middle School on an ongoing basis. New Song will NOT be doing any kind of “kiss and drop” car line, instead it will continue the park and sign-in procedure currently in place which will ensure the safety of the children as well as mitigate any queuing concerns.

🚗 Traffic Study Completed
The required traffic study parameters provided by the COH evaluated multiple entrances using the latest hand-held computerized devices. Traffic study counts were completed Tues, Wed or Thurs to ensure the greatest number of vehicles. See below excerpt from the Traffic Study for actual dates the counts were taken. (Draft Traffic Study can be found at LINK):
Traffic volumes at the subject intersection were recorded on the following dates:
Reunion Drive at Anthem Parkway 4/17/25
Reunion Drive at Cornet Street 4/15/25
Cornet Street at Project Driveway 4/29/25
The intersection volumes were recorded in 15-minute intervals between the hours of 7:00am to 9:00am and 2:00pm to 4:00pm. These hours correspond with the school bell times. The 15-minute volume counts are contained in Appendix C. Refer to Figure 5 for the recorded volumes.
📊 Traffic Study Analysis
The traffic study analysis showed no impact on future traffic associated with the increase in New Song enrollment. Over 30% of New Song students have siblings attending the school reducing number of visits. Over 40% of students are currently zoned for Lamping. This doesn’t add any vehicles to the current roadside, only helps dissipate the current traffic.
See below excerpt from the Traffic Study:
Anthem Parkway at Reunion Drive
This intersection currently experiences acceptable delays during the AM and PM peak hours. Upon completion of this project, it is anticipated that these acceptable delays shall continue.
Cornet Street at Reunion Drive
This intersection currently experiences excessive delays for the northbound approach. The northbound approach delays are due to the high EB/WB volumes. In review of the total intersection volumes, the northbound volumes are minor. Upon completion of the project, it is anticipated that the unacceptable approach delays will remain.
Cornet Street at Project Driveway
Currently, all delays are acceptable. Upon completion of this project, all delays will be acceptable.
🏫 Insufficient School Performance and Choices
The Clark County School District (CCSD) in Nevada is the fifth-largest school district in the United States. While it's a large and diverse district, it has been consistently ranked lower in national education reports. For example, one report ranked the Las Vegas area, which is served by CCSD, 49th out of 50 metro areas for school quality. Other reports have also noted that the district's performance, particularly in academic growth and achievement, is among the lowest in the nation.
The need and demand for additional school options is great with the continued increase in the population of Southern Nevada. Approximately 400 new residents move to the valley every month. The Clark County School District schools are far above capacity, and the level of education for our children continues to suffer because of it. Families are looking for alternatives. The proposed expansion would provide some relief to other schools and provide additional options for parents and children in their early education years.
The nearby public schools are overcrowded while most of the charter schools have a waiting list and are difficult to get into. Many of the private schools also have a waiting list and are expensive. For Example: Henderson International is >$22K/year to attend, while New Song is <$10K. New Song is the only Lutheran based parochial schools in the area.
